Love & Such

Okay brothers and sisters- bloggers of the world- I am SO pleased to introduce you to the best blog out there... my sister's! I mean... I guess it's okay... :) If you love reading about spontaneous adventures with a human and their sidekick bunny then her blog is for you! Love & Such is my lil seester's blog and it is seriously the best thing ever! She is the little bunny that got me onto blogging! I love her and her blogs (especially the awesome ones about me) more than anything!

So my sissy nominated me for the Lobster Award!! (Liebster Award) I'm pretty stoked to fill out this questionnaire thing- It's always fun for everyone to learn a little more about me.. especially if you are new to my bloggy blog! I'll post 11 things about myself and then answer the questions my tinky has given me.Thanks for the nomination sis... I won't let you down...

1. I live in Lai'e Hawai'i. If you don't know that already then... Welcome to Little Sea Big Fish.

2. I have SUCH a love for animals and it is kind of a problem... I can't walk through campus without the stray dogs following me around because they KNOW that i'm the chick that buys dog food at the grocery store for them and gets beef jerky out of the vending machine to feed them if i'm in a hurry. SO WHAT! I love the little critters. I have even tried to leave little snacks for the geckos in my dorm room but they are haters so... i'll keep workin' on that one!

3. I LOVE school and I love learning. I spend 95% of my life in the library 1. because if I am in the sun too long i'll burn and 2. there are some super hot guys in here. I am SUCH a nerd and get all of my homework for like the next month done but HEY don't come crying to me when you are all stressed out about all of the homework you have to do! I'll be here sitting on pinterest laughing while you frantically finish your assignments! Suckas.

4. I am a fishy. I am obsessed with the ocean and i'm so happy I live two seconds away from it! Even though I have been living in Hawai'i for a little bit, there isn't ONE time where I don't walk or drive by the ocean and just stare at it in amazement. It is just so insanely powerful and holds so many mysteries! I looove it.

5. My best friend is my sister. Hands down. Everyone says "ohhh yeah I love my siblings! BFFS!! yay!" when lezbehonest- they don't! I was so blessed to get a sister who is just as insane as I am! We understand each other so well and I am so happy our sisterly umbilical cord bond had grown even more these last few years! Love you buns!

6. I won the Red Head Contest at the State Fair. This doesn't even need an explanation. It was legit..

7. At my high school graduation, a couple other students and I were asked to speak. Everyone spoke so wonderfully about working hard and growing up to become a strong and confident individual. And then I stood up and spoke about how I aspire to own a ghetto taco stand someday. HATERS GONNA HATE!

8. Some people are afraid of ghosts, some are afraid of murders, but COME ON GUYS there is nothing more terrifying than ALIENS! Those little creatures have been my biggest fear since I was in the womb. I'm sorry but DON'T tell me this just doesn't make you want to crap your pants-

9. I love anything dealing with love. Okay let me explain myself- I love reading cute engagement stories, hearing about peoples weddings, cute love notes, darling surprises for their significant other. I think its all so cute! But at the end of the day..... this is how I really am...

10. I ate dog testicles when I was in China. Did I know I was eating dog testicles......? Do I even have to ANSWER THAT?

11. Even though I seem like a girly kind of girl, I LOVE doing anything crazy outdoors! A lot of people have told me I act more like a boy than a girl sometimes. I should take that offensively.. but I just respond with "You are just upset I have better 'That's What She Said' jokes." ALL of my best friends have been guys so I understand them better than any other species on earth, but boy I get friend zoned like no other! Whatevs! I love all the dudes in my life! Anyways.. back to the subject- I LOVE running, hiking, hunting, and going on any kind of adventure! I'm down to try anything crazy and love having a killer time! (Why do I feel like I am filling out a thing for a dating website? in that case I love ice cream and walks on the beach boys!)

Kell asked me these questions-

1. What has been the greatest adventure for you in the last year?

Definitely moving to Hawai'i and enjoying the sick adventures I have had here! I never thought i'd be at my dream school living right next to the beach! Love it!

2. If you could live anywhere in the US Where would you move?
I would love to live in California sometime in my life! I love Hawai'i but there is no way I am going to be paying $8.00 for a gallon of milk the rest of my life here! SO expensive to live over here it is such a joke!

3. Dill pickles or sweet?
Dill for sure! Oh dill pickles bring back great memories of making grilled cheese and eating big ol' pickles with my sis!

4. If someone handed you $1,000.00 what would you do with it?
My first purchase would most definitely be the biggest carrot ever for Winston! If you don't know who Winston is... Follow kell's blog and you will find out! After that I would take care of the family. I'd get Kell and Spencer a home, pay off the parentals bills, and once all of that is taken care of, I'm headed to the Land Rover dealership to get myself a black Range Rover to drive to Lulu Lemon in to spend the remainder of my money. Oh then i'd buy a labradoodle. Those things are gnarly. Sounds like a good plan!

 5. What is your dream job?
Well.... It's a little all over the place but... I would love to be a Marine Biologist (what i'm studying in school right now) and/or work at Sea World so that I could play with sea critters all day. But on the other hand, I would love to do something with business. I have always dreamed of having my own little grill or something right on the beach. But I love being in charge.. so being a CEO of a huge company and arriving to work every day in my Rolls Royce wearing my Chanel business attire and the 6 inch red heels I could never walk in. And having everyone be terrified of me..... yeah........ that would rock. But at the end of the day, all I want in life is to be the manager for One Direction. Lets get real.

6. What is your favorite thing to spend money on?
Clothes. Gum. Ice cream. Lulu Lemon. Random Etsy purchases. That's all I spend my money on....

7. What is your favorite season and why?
I love summer (duh) because of WARM NIGHTS! You would say "well you have that all the time in Hawai'i!" well no. You don't. Its windy and freaking cold at night. I miss Utah's killer dry summer heat and watching the sunset on the boulevard at night and still enjoying the heat even after the sun had set! I also love Autumn because it is SUCH a pretty time! Plus that means HALLOWEEN!!! <3

8. What is one accessory you couldn't live without?
The only accessories I wear are the ones I wear EVERY day. I am completely naked without my Michael Kors watch on my wrist. It's such a beast and weighs like 45 pounds but I even sleep with it most of the time. It's a problem. I wear 2 rings on each hand and those never come off no matter what! I forget they are even there i'm so used to them. I also wear my fishy necklace that my best friend Cole Davis gave me over a year ago every day. The only time that sucker ever comes off is when I have a photo shoot! My last accessory I wear every day is my lucky Saint Christopher's necklace!

9. Where were you born?
I was born in Bountiful, Utah into a family that looks completely different than me. My siblings all tell me i'm adopted so I don't really know what to believe anymore......... i'm guessing my real birth place is probably Compton or Inglewood.

10. Do you have any pets?
I have Peanut the yorkie, Jaxsey the Chiweenie, Weezy and Snowflake the Parakeets, and Winny. He is sisters bunny, but i'm his auntie so yeah... he's considered one of my pets. They all are so rad!
peanut loves me...

11. Why do you blog?
I love blogging because I love keeping family and friends updated on all of my adventures. But I mostly love it because I love making me people laugh! I hope you all chuckled at least once in this blog. If that picture of people with the sock on her head doesn't crack you up then I really don't know what to tell you.

STAY HAPPY EVERYONE!!
XOXO

-Stranded in Kahuku-

 -Stranded in Kahuku-

I have been so stoked to tell you all about my adventurous date night with Mr. Tanner Denning. For all of you wondering who he is.... here's his lil background story- Tanner.. it's your time to shine!

I met Tanner my first week here at school. He is from San Clemente, California but had been living in Utah the last few years and working as a lift operator at Park City Mountain Resort. He was going to be an Accounting Major, but then he realized how extremely horrid that would be so he switched his major to Marine Biology- The same as me! I was stoked to see we had a lot of classes together because that means I  had someone to cheat off of! :D :D (jk mom...) He has become one of my really good friends over here and is one of the sickest dudes I have ever met! He has been surfing since he was...6 I believe... so yeah he totally sucks at it. He also snowboards, longboards, cooks, and is extremely smart and a super good example to me! Oh and he loves Winston. So there's the little background on him.

(Tanner is the dude basically on top of the other dude.. This was him surfing at Pipeline a few weeks ago.. he is freaking insane....)

ANYWAYS................. So Tanner and I have become slaves of the library. We spend about 5 hours at the library every day studying for our freaking hard classes and so that picture that is at the top of this blog was taken on Friday after we had been in the library for several hours and working on biology problems that would take about 45 minutes a question.. after we were done, our brains were fried. He asked me if he could take me to The Surfer Bar (totally his kind of joint) at Turtle Bay. Finally a night out away from studying!

Tanner and I met up on campus later and walked to the bus stop to head up to Turtle Bay. MAN do I miss having my little snoball to scurry around in :( BUSES ARE SO FREAKING SCARY!!!!! We got to Turtle Bay after a sketchy bus ride and the restaurant was AMAZINNNGGGG!!!!!!!!! We had such a delicious meal and I know Tanner loved the whole surfer atmosphere at the restaurant and was probably watching the waves outside the whole time! :) For dessert... we had the most incredible creation that literally made me emotional it was so good. It was a chocolate haupia checkerboard cake.. So it was ice cream and cake checkers! INCREDIBLE!

uh tanner can you not look like elvis??

After dinner, we went down near the beach where they had a bunch of torches going and we sat there talking. We started talking about super scary stories and freaky experiences we had both had and then all of a sudden the torches all went out. We were pretty freaked out! We left after that and headed back down to the bus stop. We were sitting there and I was like "uhhhh whens the bus gonna be here....." We checked the time and the next bus- 6:45 the next morning.

We were 6+ miles away from home!! We both just started laughing and Tanner looks at me and says "Well.... looks like we are going to go on a little adventure!" So we started our little quest- Once we got out of the beauty and lights of Turtle Bay, we found ourselves walking along the side of the road in the complete dark with the stars barely lighting the road for us. We were FREAKED OUT!! Our previous spooky conversation wasn't helping either! Tanner started talking to me about what we would do if someone jumped us and we had like a game plan- it was so scary actually talking about what we would have to do if we got freaking attacked by someone... wasn't comforting at ALL especially since one of the sketchiest towns was only a few miles ahead of us. We had to stop along the side of the road and I had to put all of my cash and credit cards inside of my shirt just in case... so freaky. Once we saw some cars passing by we started to hitch hike.. and ITS NOT THAT SKETCHY GUYS! Hitch hiking is the best way to get across the island! We hitch hiked FOREVER and cars just kept on zooming by. SO frustrating! Finally a HUGE truck zooms by us and then stops and reverses back to us. This totally crazy old dude gets out and was like "WHERE YAAA HEEEADDEDD?!" And we hop into the bed of his truck. It was full of random stuff like... IDK... DEAD FISH and freaking coconuts! The dude was freaking nuts! He only drove like half a mile and then dumped us in the middle of Kahuku- the sketchiest place. So we just walked looking down at the ground avoiding eye contact with anyone and we were SCARED. We finally got out of the sketchy area and found a well lighted trail to walk down. We FINALLY felt like we weren't going to get attacked by zombies and/or aliens. Until we saw the alien cows along the path....

try to tell me that isn't the scariest thing you've ever seen in your life.

LONG STORY SHORT- Tanner and I survived the sketchiest abandonment ever. The lesson we learned- PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SUCKS GUYS!!!!!!!  I'm glad I had that huge kid with me though in case anyone wanted to start anything... but Tanner should be lucky he had ME there because we all know no one would've messed with us when they saw how tough I am.... duhh! ;) It was scary at the time, but now I laugh about it all the time! I love the craziest experiences like this that I have here... it makes me love the island life so much more! Gotta love having crazy stories I can tell the kids one day about how mama was a gangsta and hitch hiked her way through Hawai'i :)

You know you live in Hawai'i when....

I couldn't resist from writing this. Here are a few of the things I have noticed about Hawai'i that are a little different than Bountiful, Utah!

You know you live in Hawai'i when...

  • You hang your clothes on a clothesline to dry because its so windy...constantly
  • You can't walk around the streets or campus without seeing 40 stray dogs that like to follow you everywhere....
My main squeeze, Jiffy
  • ......you end up going to the store and buying dog food for the doggies.....
  • Everyone you see in public is barefoot. At subway, the store, walking down the road, getting their hair cut, ect.
  • You never start a meeting or class without everyone yelling "ALLLLLLOOOOOOOOOHA!!"
  • You fall asleep to the sound of the drums and chants at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
  • You can't go on a nice run around the neighborhood without getting attacked by a herd of freaking chickens
  • ....you destine to become a chicken slayer....
  • You have no idea how to describe directions because everything is in Hawaiian.
  • You are 2 minutes away from a white sand and turquoise waters.
  • You have classes held at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
  • You get wonderful 20-30 foot waves that bring our every beautiful surfer on the island.

  • You have coconuts laying on the side of the road..
  • Every bird you see looks like something from Avatar.
  • You are weird if you get ready for the day/wear lots of makeup (best thing ever)
  • You get into bed and there is sand in it
  • Its beautifully sunny one second, and windy and pouring rain the next.

  • You crave POG (passion, orange, and guava juice) like a mad pregnant woman.
  • Going on dates doesn't mean going to a movie and dinner at a nice restaurant , it means you are going surfing on the North Shore and eating shrimp out of an old van.
  • You see people carrying pounds of bananas on their shoulders.
  • No one owns a bike that ISN'T rusty!
  • You add boys that go to your school on Facebook and see this-

  • Basically every boy you see makes you want to cry they are so cut and beautiful.
  • The wind is so strong it blows through your dorm..
  • Your attire consists of flip flops or bare feet, shorts, and a baggy t-shirt.
  • White people become the minority...

  • You always wear a swimsuit underneath your clothes.
  • You see a sea turtle almost every time you go out to the beach and it isn't that big of a deal..
  • The bottom of your jeans get crusty and stiff from the salt water.
  • Your campus store carries 90% ethnic food.... 10% American food...

  • There are always boys singing and playing their ukes outside your window.
  • Everyone is beautifully sunkissed... except for me of course.
  • Everyone has gardens full of extremely gorgeous and exotic flowers
  • DID I MENTION IT NEVER STOPS RAINING?!!????!!!!
  • No one needs a car... all you need is a bike or a longboard and your set!
  • You have freaky looking Hawaiian dishes... but they actually make you cry they are so delicious..
  • Fresh pineapple is always on hand.
  • If you don't get a Melona (melon or mango flavored ice bars) at least once a day you are nuts.

And most importantly..

*You are EASILY the happiest person because you live in pure paradise.*

Even though things here are completely different than my little bubble in Bountiful, Utah... I couldn't ask for a better place to live. I love every weird, interesting, and beautiful thing about this amazing island!

Except the chickens... i'd be fine without the chickens....

Aloha to my first week!

First week in Hawai'i

What an amazing first week I have had in paradise! I'm sorry I have been hobo and haven't posted anything about this beautiful island yet though. S/O to my amazing sis Mikell Gordon for getting this page started up for me! I can't wait to share all of my adventures I have here with all of you!

I left super snowy Bountiful on December 30th, 2012 and headed out for the biggest adventure of my life. I flew to Phoenix and then an hour later headed for Honolulu. Both of my flights were COMPLETLEY full so it was sooo packed. The person next to me on the flight to Honolulu had the genius idea of wearing a huge fur coat on the plane.. which was CONSTANTLY rubbing on me! I swear I about lost it. I usually sleep super well on flights but I probably got about 30 minutes of some shut eye. When we started making the descent for Honolulu, my heart was pounding! We got out of the clouds and I saw my new home for the first time. I tried so hard to hold back my tears. I could not believe that I was actually going to live in a place full of so much beauty. I stepped outside the airport and legitimately thought I was going to DIE! The heat and the 95% humidity was something I definitely was NOT used to! A family that I got hooked up with picked me up at the airport and took me to campus. Laie, the town I live in, is about 45 minutes from Honolulu and literally has nothing in it! If I want to go shopping or hit up Wal-Mart or a big store like that, I have to hitch a ride and drive 45 minutes! I got to campus and the first thing I saw that literally blew me away was the Laie Hawai'i Temple. I am SO lucky to live so close to such an amazing place! The fountains, palm trees, exotic flowers, and green grounds makes the temple even more beautiful.

Luckily, my campus is only a couple minutes away from the temple! We turned down the street and I saw my campus and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. Hundreds of palm trees, groomed gardens, the large green mountains, and so many flags surrounding the school representing the incredible melting pot of students we have at our campus.

I got to my dorm and was kind of disappointed about how small it was, but I wasn't expecting anything outstanding! I was SOOO relieved when I came into my dorm and saw New Moon poster on my roommates wall and a zombie magnet hanging on her desk. Instantly I knew we were going to get along just fine! I found her on facebook and she told me that she wasn't going to be here until the 4th since she was home for Christmas vacation. Which I was pretty bummed about. After I brought my suitcases into my dorm, I went to my RA and asked if I could get the boxes I had sent over to my dorm a week prior. Inside those boxes I had all of my bedding, towels, most of my clothes, ect. She informed me that I wouldn't be able to get that stuff until Monday or Tuesday and I was PISSED. I knew there had to be ONE person that could help me get my FREAKING stuff! But nope! My bed consisted of a hoodie for my pillow, a beach towel I had luckily packed in my suitcase, and a beach cover up for my blanket. It was a LOOOONG night..

The next morning I woke up to blue sunny skies! I was so excited because I knew that meant BEACH DAY!!! I got all of my stuff ready for the beach and hurried to the dining center to eat. Just my luck... I get in there and they tell me that my meal plan doesn't start until January. So there I was with NO food and NONE of my stuff from home and I just lost it. It couldn't get any worse! I had to walk about a mile to the closet grocery store and had to buy a bunch of food to get me through the week which WASN'T cheap. After I got some food I hurried to the beach because I knew being in the water would make everything better. My inner mermaid came out and as soon as I saw the ocean I dropped everything and dove right in. The salt water in my mouth and eyes was seriously the best. It had been so long since I had been in the ocean and I forgot how much I loved it. I stayed at the beach for about 6 hours that day snorkeling, laying on the beach, and taking in all of the beauty around me.

The next day wasn't the best day to go to the beach........

Its now been raining for 5 days straight.......

The other night we had a game night for all of the new students. Everyone was super awkward and weird and me not being shy in any way went around the room introducing myself and finding out where everyone was from. I was seriously shocked! Out of the 50+ students that were there.. I only talked with one boy that I was from America! Everyone else was from Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Poland, Germany, China, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, Kenya, Brazil, Philippines,  ect! I am pretty sure I played every person there in Just Dance. It was so interesting because none of them had heard the songs or the game. Later that night, I was asked to join the dance club after everyone saw my moves on Just Dance... HAHAH! Im not THAT good guys. It was such a blast though.  I am so lucky to be at such an amazing place where I am able to learn so much from people that are from every corner of the earth. For the first time in my life, I am now the minority!

Today we had a campus tour and I met the 3 funniest girls from Texas and Arizona. (Finally some people from America!) We were inseparable throughout the tour and ended up hanging out all morning. We had quite the adventure today at the beach in the rain! When we were walking back to campus, we were walking down a residential street and we heard clicking on the ground... we turned around to see a bunch of dogs running right towards us. We all started screaming and jumping on each other as the dogs came up and started jumping up at us. We tried running but one dog would take you down to the ground. We were all laughing to the point where we couldn't breathe. We had to temporarily tie the dogs up to the fence so that we could get a head start of them. We BOOKED it back to campus and we were almost there when we turned around and saw the herd of dogs running towards us again. We were all screaming and ran into the Aloha Center where we sat there and laughed about how we legit about got eaten by wild dogs. Tonight, we are going to a pizza Pa"ina and then headed to the Polynesian Cultural Center. So Stoked!  I am so happy I have finally found some girls I love hanging out with! Its going to be quite the adventure with them!

Sorry for such a long post.. thanks so much to all of you for all of your good luck wishes to me. I love and miss you all so much!
 My amaazzing campus.
